Default Power stearing belt replacement

Hi, I'm replaceing the power stearing belt and alternator belt on my 04 rx 330.
I believe I have the power stearing pump pushed
up against the block all the way and still can't pry the belt on?
I'm woundering if that is normal or I have a defective belt?
Thanks,
Mark

one of the pulleys is a tensioner. you need to put a ring spanner on it and push it back the belt will go on easy. look on youtube, : "how to replace a serpentine belt"

Hi friends,

I had the same problem when I installed mine.

The belt was tight as hell and the PS pump was loosened as far as possible.

I took a prybar and worked the belt on the pulley.

My car is 2004 RX330.

see this video for changing power steering belt. Both bolts are 12mm. might need an extension for your ratchet and socket. Assuming the pivot bolt at eleven o'clock, next to the pump, is not tight, 9:10 is where the other bolt at three o'clock to right of pump is leveraged upwards or downwards.

turn one bolt counter-clockwise to loosen the bolt, Try to leverage the bolt upwards to slacken the power steering pump belt. Leverage same bolt downward to tighten the belt. then turn the bolt clockwise to tighten the bolt.
Here's another video showing the power steering pump pivot when bolt at eleven o'clock is too tight. He is using a deep well 12mm socket.
