hi all, we have had a rx400h 2007 for a year now and has been great. recently an issue has developed with the rear power tailgate, it only opens on the switch on the lower dash, handle on the tailgate itself and remote fob do not open the tailgate, not even manually in case of the handle on the tailgate. any idea where I should start? I checked the fuse under the bonnet and it is fine. didnt expect this to be the root cause as it does still open with the button on the lower dash... many thanks in advance! Dirk

 

You've probably done so, but if not, check the power tailgate switch inside your glovebox. It sounds like it might be set to lock out the FOB and exterior handle.

Try spraying the rear gas arms with silicon spray. Coat it very well as I had the same problem and this corrected it. I hope this helps.

 

Update: thanks for the replies guys, I switched the glovebox button a few times and now the remote fob button is working again. I suspect the switch in the tailgate handle is broken, so ordered a new one, hopefully all will be fixed soon! Plan to apply some grease over the weekend to make the operation a bit smoother and hopefully faster..
