Two questions for the forum that I couldn't find answers for.

1) The lumbar support on my 2004 RX330 works intermittently. Meaning sometimes it adjusts when I press the power button and sometimes it does not. Please advise. Wiring diagrams would be helpful, as well.

2) The Power outlet on the dash does not operate. The outlet on the floor in the front works fine. Please advise. And again wiring diagrams would be helpful, as well.

1. I had the problem before and I took it to the dealer and it was done under warrantee. I am assuming you are out of warrantee.


2. I had the same problem, and it was just a fuse. Not sure were the fuse is I guess on the other end of the outlet.

 

Can't help you with the first item, but I had the same issue with the dash outlet, as stated above, it was a fuse. What can happen is that when you plug in say, a phone charger and wiggle it a bit too much, you can short out the outlet against the trim ring surrounding it.

 

I just noticed the same issue but the power outlet on the floor and in the trunk do not work. They look unused and clean as a whistle. The power outlet on the dash works fine.

Is the single 20A fuse for all poweroutlets? If so, why would 1 work and 2 do not?

Check fuse #64 located inside the vehicle. To inspect a blade fuse you need to pull them for a visual inspection. Looking at them while installed will do you no good.

I see the fuse box inside the vehicle. I'm trying to pull the cover but I feel like I am going to break it. Do I just pull on the "bump out"?

 

I was able to pull the cover and checked the blades there also. They're ok as well. Not sure what to do now. Anything else I should investigate?

 

Are the fuses in the insdel and in the engine compartment supposed to be different sizes? I took out the 20A fuses in the inside and they were all short. There's about 5 or 6 in total. The fuses in the engine compartment are the length I'm used to seeing.

 

These blade fuses come in a variety of sizes and ratings and you might find some or all of them used in a vehicle these days depending in the manufacturer.

Get out the multimeter and start checking to see if you are truly not getting voltage to these locations or not and double-check the continuity of the various fuses in play.

 

My secret is revealed. I don't have a multimeter. I'll have to pick one up tomorrow at AutoZone.
