Linear Offset Calibration - Brake Actuator Replaced - Bleeding RX 400h ('07)
150k miles and brake actuator motor seemed to be running way more than it used to, and also was not sounding good.
I bought a used one on ebay, subscribed to an online manual, and have a Techstream.
I replaced the actuator--physically this was not terribly challenging. However, the bleeding process is a bear--laptop kept losing comm link with the ECU, so I would have to restart the whole process.
Finally worked it all through and got to the Linear Valve Offset Learning / Calibration and keep failing. I have now gone through the bleeding 3 times (for replacing actuator) and did not see any air the last time. However, I still can't get the Linear Valve Offset learning to work, so the Xmas tree of VSC, ABS, brake lights are all on and braking feels old school.
I have it scheduled to take to a toyota specific shop next tuesday..... I have read that it is hard to get air out of the actuator. The manual says that new actuators come pre-filled with fluid--I don't think that is the case with used ones like I have used.
The replacement actuator sounds like it works normally--open the driver door and it spins up making a normal sound for a short time and then stops.
Is it likely the calibration is failing because there is still air in the actuator? Should I bleed it again and again and again?
