Default AFS off light on, 2005 RX 330

Recently purchased an 05 RX 330, going to get an inspection this week was wondering if it'll pass with the AFS off light blinking? Would this be an issue? Thanks.

Automatic Focusing System lights were controlled up and down by a link to the
rear suspension. Load the back down and the lights would stay level. The mechanism
lives a pretty hard life in snowy climates - cold, wet, salt & vibration really mess with
the moving parts under there. mnewzcv is likely correct unless they feel that ANY
warning light is a failure. Has nothing to do with the emissions they are testing

What do you mean by "Load the back down"?

Place a load such as passengers and/or cargo in the back causing the rear of the car to lower
on its springs which tips the front up and shines the headlights into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

If it doesn't pass and you may need to replace the afs sensor linkage. I just fixed mine, mechanical linkage only and re-used the electronics. Lexus sells it complete as a different part #. This linkage is small, about 5" long. The actuator for AFS is a small silveradjustment rod in front of the passenger side rear wheel. The rod seizes and breaks with age allowing the actuator arm to drop down and activate the AFS switch. You can manually lift the actuator temporarilly and the light will go out, however the fix is quite often this piece:

This item interchanges between Highlander, GX and Gen 2 RX. You discard the black arm and re-use the existing arm on the RX. 20 minute intallation. $45 US part if you shop around.
