Buying a car from out of state
Hi,
I'm considering buying an RX330 from an out of state dealer (I live in California) and I wanted to get some feedback from people who have done this before in terms of what to look out for and what additional costs to expect besides having the car shipped. Thanks!

Not sure about additional costs, except shipping of course. You have to pay tax in the state you live in, so you will be taxed when you go register it. I did buy mine from a dealer from another city about 100 miles away. The local dealer pissed me off. I have a friend who bought a car off ebay from Texas and had no problems with it.
If you decide to go for it, good luck.

Actual experience
Funny you should ask...
I just completed this exact type of transaction last week. I purchased a 330 from CA and had it delivered to NJ. Delivery charges were about $900 but the discount off MSRP more than made up for that. No additional fees involved beyond shipping. A few things to keep in mind as you decide: 1) No trade in. 2) You have to go to DMV to title/register vehicle. 3) Lexus has to provide you the Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO). This took about 2 weeks for me. 3) Delivery off the back of a car carrier is not the same experience as picking it up at a lexus dealer. (for me it took nearly two weeks to travel cross country and I took delivery in a mall parking lot.)
Was it worth it?
I think so. I saved a couple thousand dollars over NY area dealers and still took delivery in less time than the local dealers promised.
Oh yeah... the car is fantastic.
Good luck,
Joe

I have bought Lexus vehicles from out of state because the model I wanted was not available in state. I don't think I saved much, perhaps a smidgen. I rented a car one way to go there and pick it up to ensure everything was right, and take a little vacation, and aside from one issue that would have been hard to resolve had it been delivered everything went fine with Lexus.
