I am looking for a diy to replace the transmission fluid for a 2005 RX330. would appreciate all the help.

In reading most of the posts regarding transmission fluid drain and refill on RX330, it seems people are draining through the pan first, then refilling, then draining throiugh the trans cooler return line while engine is running. What is the prupose of drain and refill through the pan first? Would you not get the same result by just drain and refill through the trans cooler return line by reapeating it multiple times?

I did drain + refill 2X. Took a little over 4 quarts each time.

Shifts are noticeably better (except for the 2-3 upshift that I am trying to fix. This did not improve).
