I assume it’s PCV, that being said I just get the cheapest PCV on rock auto, and replace every 30k miles. On my 2006 GS300 known for carbon buildup and burning oil, I change every oil change

I spray clean them. Not worth spending money, carb cleaner does the job.

Aren’t you worried about the carb cleaner eating away at the plastic inside after repeatedly doing it? Not saying your wrong just curious if that’s a concern because if it works maybe I’ll do that

PCV valve = positive crankcase ventilation valve. Without reading up on them I'm guessing that since it connects the crankcase to the intake, when engine vacuum is highest it goes to more closed while when vacuum is weakest it opens more. It lets the blow-by gases get burned in the engine.

Once upon a time, they didn't have PCVs. Instead the crankcase was ventilated by a hose extending towards the road. Air rushing by (really, the car rushing through the air) created a little suction and all the blow-by gases including unburned gasoline vapor was sucked out and just went into the air. The top of of a cylinder bank had a cap that had an air filter in it and air entered there.
