Smile Tail Light Assembly Removal

I'm trying to remove my tail light assembly all four lights. Anyone have any tips on how to do this?

To remove the lights in the fenders, there is a access panel in the inside trim panel (maybe 5 inches by 5 inches). Remove this and you can see the back side of the light. The light assembly is held in by 3 nuts on studs. On my car, the nuts were 2 different sizes, 8mm and 10mm. You will need deepwell sockets. Remove wires and the light assembly will come off, but the water sealing putty will make it seem like you don't have it loose.

Be careful if you try to pull the assembly off from outside the car as you might break the plastic lens. I put the nuts back on the studs flush with the end and pushed from the inside.

I have not removed the lights in the tailgate, so I can't give you specifics, but you will have to remove the door panel trim.
