Key Fob Shell
What's a good source for a key fob outer housing? I have a 2008 RX350. I was looking through eBay and other sites but it's confusing. I've seen some references to long key and short key. Not sure what applies or maybe that is just an aftermarket term. I only need the outer shell as the key itself is fine as is the electronics module.
I bought one that came with a blank key and figured I would just toss that, attach my own with the screw, pop in the electronics module and be done with it. Nope, this one came with the blank key permanently attached to one half of the shell and once forcibly removed, my key would not even fit and align with the hole. Their key wasn't even exactly the same at the inner end as mine. Not a big loss as it cost only three bucks with shipping. I don't need a blank key at all just a shell that will accept the OEM metal key. With the proper tiny screw. The one this vendor sent looked like a tiny self tapping screw, not a machine screw.

If you want to swap internals, your best bet is OEM which could pull a pretty penny. I've also noticed the Lexus copy-cats are not interchangeable, they're made to just be cut and programmed, kind of makes sense given how cheap they are.
