Default removing drivers side air vent/cup holder

Just as the title states; is there a EASY way to remove the drivers side cup holder/air vent to replace as as the slider that moves the air vent left and right broke off on mine and needs to be replaced. Thanks Matt.

This thread has some pics that should help. Apparently, you have to remove the lower dash cover to get to a screw holding the assembly in the dash...

yea; what a pain in the a$$!. ya gotta take off the lower part of the dash it appears to take the whole assembly with both the cup holder and air vent out. Problem is i havent been able to find one around here second hand as the dealers want $200+ for a new one!!! and im not about to pay that! heck no! now that i know how to get it out; any ideas on where i can possibly find a replacement?

Discovered this post that has a PDF for removing the entire dash including the lower portion. It's the best guide I've seen so far.

I “fixed” my center air vent levers using wire from a Cat 5 cable. I stripped the outside cover off and used one of the twisted pair to wrap around the posts that move the lovers left and right. It was difficult to get the spacing exactly right but if I was to do it again I would make a jig with the correct spacing and using the correct diameter rods to wrap the wire around since they aren’t all the same. Once you have the jig, it “might” be possible to fix the louver without removing it from the dash. You’d have to be very patient and/or good with a pair of thin needle nose pliers or tweezers but given the amount of effort to get to the vents on the ends, it might be worth a try. The center vents on the dash on my 2006 RX400h weren’t that hard to get to but your mileage may vary…
