Filled with premium. No difference. Used about 800ml oil in 1800kms.

it will take a few tanks to see any difference. do you have sludge under the oil fill cap? Oil burning is a blue smoke not a white smoke.

Have the oil changes been carried out on time? A Sludge build can cause this problem.

these engines are bullet proof and with correct servicing will go 100s of kkms. They are not known for burning oil.

The more I read it sounds like this SLUDGE issue. There was a long gap between oil changes..time..not kms..from memory 2years. When I bought and test drove zero smoke, but after some highway driving this issue has appeared.
Yes under the cap it looks like "sludge", thick and almost chunky oil residue.
Is there a best solution for this from owners experience?

the woman i know that had this problem gave it to a friend to fix (in a Kluger same engine) I think he took the rocker cover and sump off and cleared all the sludge. The problem was fixed..I was told it only took a few hours.

Maybe a couple of quick oil changes with a higher detergent oil. I have never favoured oil flushes, but maybe there is a case for it here. Maybe seek advice on giving it an oil flush.

These engines don’t sludge, and even after 2 years, if the mileage isn’t that much over the interval, it won’t kill the engine.

Yes, there were notorious Toyota engines known for slushing, but this 3.5 is not one of them. OP said he went over interval time wise, but not mileage wise, and while not ideal, that in and of itself would not sludge up the engine. We can guess all we want but OP really just needs to bring it to the shop.

Hi all

I had an engine flush done and has not helped. Its has used about 1quart since then which is about 2,000 miles.

The only visual use of oil is after driving for a period of time at highway speed, the I stop and idle...when I accelerate away ( even gently) I leaves a CLOUD of smoke.

any thoughts?

try a 10w/40 next oil change if you are not in snow country.
