Question Leak - need help in identifying the part

My 2004 RX 330 has a "hot" smell after a drive. Oil and trans fluids are all good. No drips on the garage floor under the car. BUT inspecting around the car, I did find a wet oily rubber cup near the front left wheel. But I don't know how to identify what this arm or rubber cup is, in order to do further research. I suspect many of you may recognized this part in the attached photo. Any info is appreciated. Darrell

Unfortunately, the all too often steering rack leak. Do a search for further info.

Aside from that leaking steering rack.... Do you have AWD? When our transfer case sprung a leak it dripped right on the exhaust giving off a burning smell.

ThanX nwfsnake - that would be an expensive fix and out of my skill set. The Lex has 225K miles on it and I've never had to do a major repair. I suspect after 14 years, its about time some things begin to fail.

NVAKeith - Yes, it's AWD. I'll take a look at the transfer case and see what I can discover. Good suggestion.

Try some Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. I was skeptical, but mine had the same leak. I replaced some of the power steering fluid in the reservoir with the Lucas stop leak. Hasn't leaked a drop since. Not one drop. You have nothing to lose but about ten bucks if it doesn't work.
