2007 rx350 console section that has the cupholders does not open.
Please advise.

 

We need more details than you just saying it doesn't work.

Is the cover sitting flush with the rest of the console?

When you press on the cover like you are going to open it, does it press down and spring back up?

The cover is flush with the top in the normal closed position
When I press near the edge as I usually do, there’s very little, if any, movement.

I don't know exactly what is wrong, but you will have to take the console off in order to get to the moving parts of the mechanism. Hopefully you willbe able to see what is preventing the lid from moving.

 

Do you know if anything is in that cup holder compartment? My wife had a similar issue a few years back when something in the compartment moved and blocked the lid from being depressed to open. I think we fixed it by sliding a semi rigid object in the lid seam and wiggling it around until it dislodged the offending item. I don't remember what we used, but a flexible plastic ruler comes to mind.
