I have got this situation. The rear hatch opener, both one in the tailgate under the rubber cover and the one on the left side of the front panel, only work when the tailgate is opened by the remote control on the key. Once the tailgate is opened, I can use the front button to close it.

I also tried this, when using the remote to open the door, if I touch the hatch opener in the tailgate it could make the door to move up and down as long as the door is not closed.

I somehow think that this is an electric issue, most likely a fuse. But I can't find it out. Anyone has idea how to check?

I decided to give it a try to reset the power system. So I disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes and then reconnected battery. Wola, the issue is resolved. Of course I had to reinitialize all Window button for normal operation.

Just thought to post this result.
