Relays
I drive a Rx 330. Can any one tell me what the two relays in the relay box under the hood go to. The blue one got shorted out and now my ac doesn't blow at all. Also what is the approximate cost and is a strictly a dealer item.

Are these relays on the passenger side by the power steering oil reservoir? On the inside of the cover should be a label telling you what the relay is.
I have an 07 and there are 3 relays in there, one of them called the HEATER relay. The other 2 are labeled HORN and DRL # 3.
Parts stores tend to have generic relays and those won't plug into the box. You can either go to the dealer or go to a pick N pull junkyard.

drl#3 is the one that shorted out and killed my AC. Do you know what that is. It mentions heat in the manual. Just. Wondering if I replace that relay will the air work? Or did it short out something more in the computer. Smoke came directly from the relay when it shorted out. Thanks so much for you reply.

As far as I know, the DRL #3 relay has nothing to do with the air conditioner. DRL means Daytime Running Light. On our cars the daytime running lights are the high beam headlights at half intensity when the headlight switch is off. When you (or the auto headlight on function) turn the headlights on, the DRL #3 relay is used to turn off the daytime running light function.
The relay itself has nothing to do with the air conditioner. There are 2 fuses that send power to the DRL #3 relay. Maybe those fuses also send power to the air conditioner, I don't know. Those fuses are also under the hood, but on the driver's side next to the fender. Take off the cover and check the 15 amp H-LP R UPR fuse and the 7.5 amp DRL/WIP-S fuse. (crazy names, toyota)
A much scarier worst case scenario is that maybe the wires under the relay burned up and damaged more wires than just those for the relay. I would suggest that you check that.
