Default Removing armrests on 2007 RX350

I want to remove the skinny front armrests on my 2007 RX350. Have found an earlier thread but the pictures won't load anymore. And is there any way of removing the plug covering the bolt without breaking it? Thanks.

The plug just pulls out. The plug is long, it goes all the way through the arm rest and uses 2 fingers to catch on the washer under the bolt. Pull evenly on both sides at the same time.

Any suggestion on what to use to pull this plug out? Having real difficulty with this even using trim removal tools on both sides of the plug
