I own a 2009 Lexus RX 350. Last week, all of a sudden, the oil cooler line ruptured. Towed into Lexus dealership. They are replacing oil cooler line and "top part of engine." When asked about the lower part of engine (block?) was told that the lower part has never been damaged in a "blowout" and if it does happen they would have to contact Lexus to see if they would cover it. No warranty. Has anyone experienced similar? Not sure I want to keep this car with no extended power train warranty due to their mistake.

If you are under 150k mlies Lexus covers the oil lines. As for the rest, how many times have Ford or GM covered an 8 year old vehicle for anything outside of a Federally mandated recall?

I just had my oil cooler line replaced this week (hopefully pre-emptively)

If your vehicle is less than 150k miles, you are still covered under warranty. The rubber oil cooler lines have been revised to metal cooler lines.
