Engine oil api sm or api sn in 2006 rx 350
The manual states API SM, but the latest standard is API SN that is "backwards compatible"
Are people using the API SN in 2006 RX 350s?

You're way over thinking a simple oil change, but yes, everyone uses API SN. As long as you buy a good name brand oil, all you need to worry about is the weight, and even then you just need to be close. A 20 or 30 weight with any available w value will work just fine.
edit to clarify that you're unlikely to find a name brand motor oil that is still made to API SM. When a new standard comes out, most of the oil manufacturers reformulate fairly quickly to meet the new standard. The RX has fairly basic oil requirements, so any name brand of suitable weight should be fine.
