Default Check my fluids - ALL

Hey folks.

I'm going to do full exchanges on all fluids and just want to make sure I don't have anything wrong or missing any parts/gaskets/bolts to change. One thing I'm wandering is if there are crush washers anywhere? I've seen posts mention them.
2008 RX350 AWD - JAP ASSY.

Thanks in advance!

Transmission:
9.5 quarts = capacity
2 quarts to be "wasted" running through probably
Will use Valvoline Maxlife although many would say ONLY USE TOYOTA WS
Filter + O-ring + Pan gasket

Front differential:
Included in above

Transfer case:
SAE 80W-90
Will use LUCAS gear oil for this
apx, 1 quart + waste run through

Rear differential:
SAE 80W-90
Will use LUCAS gear oil for this... same as transfer case oil
apx. 1 quart + waste run through

Coolant:
2 X 4L Toyota pre-mixed

Power Steering Fluid
Toyota DEX III fluid
1L + waste

Brake Fluid:
DOT 3 will use LUCAS
2 quarts + waste

If the RX has the Transmission Cooler you may need about 2 liters more.

Transfer case and rear diff are drain and fill only, so there won't be any waste for run through/exchange. If it's never been done, you may want to do them again in a month or so. That's what I'm going to do.

Thanks. Why a month? Why not drain/fill run around block and repeat?

Gives plenty of time for the new fluid to break up any gunk from the old fluid. Considering mine were never done in over 135,000 miles, that's why I'm doing it that way.

Also remember to wipe clean the magnetic ends of the drain plugs. Mine were covered with metal dust paste. Then when you do the second drain and fill, wipe them again to get a sense of what level of fine metal particles were left after your first service.

2 quarts of brake fluid is a little excessive, you should only need one even with a full system bleed at each caliper.

Also on the power steering fluid any dextron will work, I would go dex VI for synthetic and it is backwards compatible with dex III systems.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

DEX VI it will be for PS

Didn't realize that the 80W90 isn't synthetic so will go to Lucas Synth 75w90 instead.

Some say MaxLife is no good, but most of those who use it have no issues with it. I've done 2 drain and fills with it so far (my '05 calls for T-IV), and it's working well... well enough to notice a nice improvement, but anything would be better than the 135,000 miles on the original fluid...

At 138,000 miles the transmission fluid looks fine & no shifting problems, who knows if the transmission was serviced or not previously. Should do a drain & fill shortly but will stick with Toyota T-IV, also it is the least expensive (1-L/ $4.50 Cdn.) for comparable ATF available here in the Great White North.

If you are good, and there is no air in the the brake lines, you should be able to bleed all four brakes with 1/2 liter. 1 liter is PLENTY. 2 would be if you spilled the first liter on the driveway.

Thanks for all the replies. Added note for others to get 4 X crush washers.

I do have another question though regarding full transmission fluid change (not just drain and fill.) In the DIYs I've seen the suggestion is to drain the pan, change filter put back and then proceed with allowing rest of ATF to pump out. Wouldn't it make more sense to do all the draining and filling before replacing the filter??? thx
