Unfortunately the clips you see are permanent ones. You have to drill them out and you need to replace them with push-pull type. Just speculating that the shop who did work on the car opted the lazy route of rivet clip.

I didn't need to, I searched the forums and found some who did it without, so I followed that path and it was pretty easy. Lay under rear and look up into bumper where lamps are located. There is one 10mm (IIRC the bolt size) but one bolt holding each marker and some of it's body that fits into the cutouts. Find the 10mm bolt, reach up in there blind around the part if needed, it is tight. Take a ratchet, then long extension (think I used 10" extension) then a universal joint, then the 10 mm. Reach in there and connect the 10mm socket with u-joint and long extension to the bolt. Connect your ratchet, then loosen. About half way undone, and I got rid of ratchet but kept extension, u-joint, socket and undid rest by hand. Save bolt. Now you can wiggle free the marker housing. It is tight, but just wiggle and then turn it to release from bumper. Next gently remove wire harness to light fixture. Reinstall in reverse order. Took me about 15minutes, no part removal, none.

Bolt is located on the inside-toward middle of bumper on each side. So lay under there and feel up around the light. Passenger side bolt will be on right side as you reach up, driver side on left.

You're welcome. I only did my passenger side one after it was cracked backing gently into something. (I actually got lucky it hit right on the marker lamp and didn't do any damage to my bumper.) Anyhow I faced the same dilemma you do: How to do this job, do I really need to remove everything? After reading post from above link, I figured it would be best to do without removing and potentially scratching bumper, etc. So, I went ahead and removed mine first while I waited on my parts to come, just to be sure I could. Took a min, but not bad at all. You do have to reach up in there blindly some, but don't let that deter you, once you feel the bolt that's all you really need. Its a light fixture bolt, not and internal cam housing one, lol.

Correct. They are held on each inside by one bolt. There is also some of the housing that has a plastic lip that fits in there and holds it. Remove the one bolt wiggle and remove. Once you do, you'll see how the housing fits as it only goes one way.

Also have to remove wire harness that supplies power to fixure, but do bolt first, wiggle, remove down, then unhook wire harness lead.
