Want foglights on 2006 RX330, how DIY or who do I go to
I drove our LS430 (2001, beautiful car but garage too small for it and mom can't drive anymore so we should sell it but's that another thread/question) the other night and was flummoxed by how much easier it was to see with foglights. My primary car is the 2006 RX330 that does not have foglights. I don't want to drive without those lights any more so it HAS to be retrofitted. How do I make this happen? Forget about the dealership, I don't want to pay 2500 dollars or whatever bull crap high price they charge for this.

When I bought my 05 used, the headlights looked nasty, all clouded over. So when I changed the headlight housings, I changed my foglights to HID.
I assume you have the wiring harness for the foglights. If you don't you won't be able to add them. It's easy, take your time. Take the front bumper off, and it's straight forward. You need to decide where you want to put the HID ballasts if you do HIDs, and you need zip ties. You will need to get the foglight housings, fleabay should have them, aftermarket and OEM.

The foglight housings was also clouded over, so I got fleabay new ones. I just put HID bulbs in, close to 4500K to match the OEM headlight color.
a couple of zip ties for the ballast, and done. DDM tuning. 55 watt.

I asked the dealership if it would be possible. They said assuming the parts could be found, that it would be about 17-1800 dollars for parts alone. There is no wiring harness for foglights if the car did not come with them so a whole new harness, new ballast, new computer for the lights and new steering column switch. Plus labor and my 2500 dollar estimate was pretty spot on.
Fortunately the parts guy knew somebody who does quality aftermarket audio and lights. I called the guy who pretty much said what everybody here said. If I'm going to do this I am going to put LED foggers in. I'm waiting to hear back from him with a detailed quote.
