I'm trying to remove my alternator. It seems like for this model the alternator is in a terrible location. I have removed the circuit, main electrical line (one with the bolt on it) and am about to remove the tensioner.
Is there any way I could free up more space. I'm not the best with working on cars but the alternator is in such an odd location and I don't want to unscrew anything that's not necessary.
The one thing that's making this especially hard is that piece of metal tubing directly below the barcode. The tensioner and serpentine belt are directly below it. You can kind of see it in the picture. Once I remove the alternator I have no clue how I'm going to be getting it out.
Can you gain any more access from the side area? Remove the passenger front wheel and the plastic fenderwell panel. Maybe you can see more in there and access better.
Search YouTube "350 serpentine" and it looks like there is a video on that access panel. Just guessing as I haven't done one yet.
There is a good post here on how to remove it. Apparently the 2007 rx was very poorly designed. I need to remove the radiator fans, thermostat housing, and idler pulley. I have no clue how to remove those.
