Default Wheel/rim issue

I have an 04 RX, original wheels, 81k miles. I had our tire dealer (who is awesome) install a set of Michelins a year ago. Recently the right front has been losing air. Took the truck in for a rotate and balance at the same installer, they couldn't find anything wrong with the tire. Now the tire is the right rear. Same issue, they looked at it today and said the wheel has corrosion which is causing the tire to slowly lose air. They sanded it down but said I may need a new wheel at some point.
Is this common? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've had a similar consistent leak with a new tire that was traced to a defective valve stem.

A colleague had a corrosion issue along the bead on his Altima's alloy wheels that affected two or three wheels. I haven't heard of it on a Lexus.
