Power lift gate
i have a 2005 330, awhile back the power lift gate made a nasty sound while closing. It sounded like a gear tooth broke and schuttered while closing. I stopped using the power closing, however, it opens just fine. I have not ever torn into the motor area to investigation, knowing that a new motor is big money. while reading some related posts, could this nose and problem with closing be cause that the loose c-clip used to hold the mech onto the pivot of the door, any help would be great.
Ok, after reading numerous posts, none directly like my problem, I found some info on Lexus Owners Club. I dove into the headliner and accessed a look see at the motor/gears. the c-clip was there holding the pivot. So, I lpressed the close button and watched the gears move, then it appeared the gears would slip out of the grooves and the arm would snap. I looked like the brackit was loose and would twist or move allowing he gears to slip. I don't want to remove the entire headliner just yet.any thoughts?
