Default Strut replacement cost '05 RX330

Local Toyota dealer told me left rear shock is "blown" and cost to replace both rear struts is $900.00.
Seeing my reaction, was then quoted a 10% discount
Sure enough, the left rear shock assembly shows evidence of some oil, but I'm reminded of the scam of spraying some oil on a shock and then pronouncing it "blown". I can't perceive any loss of rear damping.
If the strut is leaking, and both rear units need replacing, is the quoted price not outrageous?

why not just drive until they are really blown?
since you dont feel it why change now?

What is the mileage? $900 is way high on rear only.

For reference, I just had my 08 Toyota Avalon (100K miles) 4 struts (KYB instead of OEMs, no difference in quality) replaced with ALL OEM mounts, bearings, insulators and bump stop replaced. Total was ~$1400. I ordered the parts directly online and bring them to the local shop. Labor charge is $400 plus $60-80 alignment and that's N. Cal labor rate, which is usually high.

RX330 should not be that much different than the Avalon.

Are all parts OEM? Seems quite high at $1800 without counting labor.

I am asking because my wife's 08 RX350 is approaching 100K miles and planning on replacing all 4 struts and hardware next year (except springs since I already have them on her non-air-suspension version). Thx.
