Check engine + VSC and now tranny slip
Hello all,
First off, I love this site and the members seem extremely helpful.
I recently purchased an 04 rx 330 with 60 k on it, although the carfax made it look like there was a potential roll back on the vehicle of 10k, I still decided to buy it. I noticed the dash board had a rattle in the cold weather. This lead me to believe that the cluster assembly was replaced, I believe this happened around 20k due to the info on the carfax.
I put 6k on the car and my Check engine and VSC light came on, I got a p0500 error code, which is the speed sensors (my gauges all still work fine). I checked the sensors with an OHM meter (with help from some great info on this site) and they tested out fine. I took it to a mechanic and he got another error code, he cleared both error codes because he wanted to see which code came back first. He also said that it could be a wiring issue or an instrument cluster problem.
Fast forward a week and a half, I was on my way out of town today and the chech engine/VSC light came on, then my Tranny started slipping, almost like it was going into neutral then kicking back into gear. This happened twice within 5 minutes, so I decided to park the car and have it towed in to another shop that specializes in higher end cars.
Question: Does anyone have an idea why this is happening, and once fixed, would you get rid of the car. I love the rx, and would hate to get rid of it, but I don't want to have it in the shop once a month, I bought it because of reliability.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Pole Position
I would have them change the Transmission filter and drain and fill it. DoNOT do a flush. A fluid exchange is ok however. The fluid exchange used the cars transmission pump to circulate the fluid. Good luck
