All second generation RXs with USA specs have running lights...and no you can't turn them off. The newer lexus' do have the option of turning them off and that might be why you have seen some with the running lights off. If you want to turn yours off you will need to replace the 5 pin running light relay under the hood with a 4 pin relay so that the running lights will not activate. Or you can cut the ground wire at the running light relay. There are directions on the forums on how to deactivate them. I wouldn't do this though as I personally think running lights are great...And now that so many cars come standard with running lights, I often don't even notice a car without lights on. From a distance it just looks like it is parked on the side of the street to me.

Keep in mind that the OP is in ANGOLA.

well if people signal you to turn your lights on at night, then maybe you shouldn't mess with your drls.
No! They signal me to turn the lights off during the day.

Yes...And in the fourth post of this thread the OP stated that the car is USA spec.

I had picked up on your comment where you had mentioned that you wouldn't disable your DRLs. Personally, I agree and wished it was more standard here in the US. However, the OP was getting asked by the police there on a regular basis about having his lights on during the day. Why I provided the previous discussion URL on the topic.

BTW, I am wondering if this is the appropriate 4-pin relay:

I turned them off using techstream and mini vci.

To turn them off by changing the relay, you just use a standard 4 pin relay.

Off-hand I don't think there are many other RX's in Angola, the cops therefore don't make a connection between the make of car and the lights being on. Dignitaries in Africa just love motorcades, mostly escorted by sunglassed gentlemen in black SUV's with blazing headlights. I can just imagine how the ordinary patrolman stresses up if he sees Eliaquim heading his way, with no apparent motorcade in trail.

Most cars nowadays have DRLs, often a standard feature on even basic car models nowadays.
