I always wanted nerfbars/sidesteps for any truck or SUV. I have seen other RX's with them. When i inquired about stock bars the shop at my Lexus dealer told me they're all aftermarket. However I read in my brochure for my car that "tubular sidebar" was an option for my vehicle from factory.

A) is there a stock sidebar?

B) did Lexus outsource these bars, and who makes them?

C) any opinions on stock vs aftermarket nerfbars? Other than price.

D) are there any big name brands that are known for making quality sidesteps? (Like weathertech for floormats, piaa for wipers, or brembo for brakes?)

E) what is the difference between nerfbars, sidesteps, and sidebars other than name?

 

There were OEM available for only a very short time. I remember seeing them in the accessory catalog for Lexus when I bought my 2004. Believe there were some quality control issues and as a low selling item they were dropped. Lexus did not outsource them to someone else. Anything out there is just a regular third-party product and none are endorsed by Lexus.
