Hi Experts,

Am heading to the Lexus Dealership over the weekend to get a few things on my RX330 ('06) checked. Would any of you know how much does the average dealership charge for -
1. Tyre rotation
2. Wheel balancing

If its steep, I might as well not get it done from them and head to an America's tire to get it done for free. . .

Dealer price will always be greater than other shops.

My question is, if you can get it done, why would you want it done at the dealer?

The reason we are saying there is no need for the shop to do it is because its something any shop can do. you should expect to pay upwards of 60+ (rough guess) at the dealer. ORRRRRR, you can get it done for free like you said in your first post.

 

Pricing varies from region-to-region and shop-to-shop, however, $20 per wheel is not out of the question by the time you add taxes and shop fees.

Yes go somewhere else. Here in the South we use Discount Tire. It's free.

 

Convenience and time. When I was working long hours and my RX was under warranty I let the dealership take care of all such matters. Made sure I had an understanding of what was being done and for how much, however, if it was a reasonable charge I let them do it to include items such as this. Saved me time from having to go again to another shop, wait in line to get the service ticket, wait for my vehicle to get pulled into a bay and have the work completed, etc. You do not get NASCAR tire change speeds at these places and if you have to try to get this done on a weekend this could take several hours depending on how busy they are. I also was more assured that the lug nuts would be torqued to the proper specs and it would be something I would not need to double-check when I got back to the house.

When my time was billable hours I made more in one hour than what it would cost to have this done multiple times each year. So, for me it was an easy decision at that time.

 

Well just in case someone is interested, the dealership quoted, 95$ for the wheel balancing, tire rotation was included in that.

 

Sounds right. So spend $95 at the dealer (which in SoCal still means a few hours waiting time)
Or a few hours waiting time for free at America's tire, whom I assume you have trusted to work on your car before, since they are doing this service for free.

 

I went to a dealership in Jersey with a coupon from their website that included a standard oil change and tire rotation came out to about $100. But it's like Rx330inFL mentioned that you know it's done correctly.

I went to the dealer with the tpms light on, when I got the vehicle back it was off. I didn't feel like trying to figure out which tire was low or undoing the spare tire to check it. All the wheels were balanced and had the proper air pressure.
