Default Is Overfilled Transmission a problem?

Followed the DIY at https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-and-pics.html

Before I did that, I checked my fluid level (while warm, not running) and found the level low. Then, removed what turned out to be about 7 qts, and replaced it with 8. Ran the car, till warm, and while running, checked the level, it is over the full line, significantly. I am considering removing another half to 1 qt through the cooler. Will an overfill be a problem. Will it be a problem for a week, until I can remove the extra fluid, or should I take care of it ASAP?

Thoughts are appreciated.

Drain it all out ASAP! And replace with 4.12 (4 and 1/4 quarts) of T-IV

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the OP has a 2000 Lexus GS400. I don't know why he posted this in the RX forum. In any event, he needs to check the owners manual for his vehicle. The refill quantity may be different for the GS vs. RX.

If you did in fact overfill - regardless of the vehicle, yes, drain immediately. The major risks are:

1. blowing out the seals and
2. introducing air into the system due to parts being submerged that were not intended to be submerged and 'foaming' occurring.

Actually, the name was created when I had a GS. Now, the wife drives a 330, and I have an IS-F.

The manual does not talk about the fluid capacity. As I mentioned, followed the instruction in the linked DIY, which is clearly an RX330.

Thanks for that. I got the information from your Club Lexus Public Profile. You may want to change it.
