2002 Transmission fluid level
Hello friends - I just did a 3 quart fluid swap on my transmission.. my 02 lets go of exactly 3 quarts that I then replace through the dipstick. I measure the amount exactly so I replace what I remove.
I have a problem where I can't get a good reading on the dipstick. Does anyone have a tip on how to get the best reading? Of course the car is running on level ground and the gears have been gone through.
New dipstick?
When I put the stick in there it goes about 3/4 of the way then it grinds past a point requiring some force, and then fully inserts. I try reading both sides but the reading is crap... short on one side, long on the other.
Thanks for any ideas.

Yeah, it's tough to read. And it's irritating that dirty fluid is easier to read than fresh. You might try letting it settle down the dipstick tube for 15 minutes or so after pouring so you don't get fluid still clinging to the tube fouling the mark.

Let it run for about 15 minutes, and check it. It is tough to read. I checked mine over the course of a couple of days just to be sure. If you put in what you took out you should be fine. It's a crappy dipstick.
