Newbie with some questions 2004 Rx330
Been reading ther forums for the past few months before i bought my Rx330. What sold me was the young attorney buying an rx330 with the 200k miles. I picked mine up for 8k after trading my tahoe in. Mine 142k with navi, mark levinson package and all other kinds of bells and whistles. I had a few questions regarding a few gremlins i noticed. The cruise control, I believe i have that fancy cruise control because when I drive it and cars are around the cruise will not engage, the light will just flash. If i go up hills or cars pass me on the side it will disengage. Is that normal? I also noticed the crappy warped rotor steering shake which is next on the to do list and I think the RX still has the original shocks and there shot. I tried to get the dealer to fix them before i bought it however they installed a new radiator, fixed scratches, replaced the front grille and replaced a key after all that i think they would have lost money if they would have fixed anything else.

Welcome to Club Lexus, Stavy612.
There is a good explanation for using the cruise control in your RX in the Owner's Manual starting on page 461. There are two modes and regardless of the number of vehicles around you it should allow you to set it like the cruise control of old. The dynamic vehicle-to-vehicle cruise control is a bit tricky and it sound like that is what you are trying to engage. You need to first check to see what mode your cruise control is in. Look at page 482.

Make sure to set your cruise for conventional cruise control mode. Once you are used to using it this way you can try the dynamic mode later.
If you are in the dynamic laser cruise control mode you should see error codes E1, E2 or E3 (as discussed in the OM) when when the cruise light flashes at you. That is telling you why it will not engage.
If after all this you still have the flashing, even in conventional mode, then you have a problem with your cruise control system and will need to take it in for a look. Perhaps the RX was in an accident previous and the sensor was damaged or is malfunctioning. Just a guess though.
