Default Transmission cooler failure

Noticed a fluid leak on my 2005, RX 330, 95,000 miles.

Turns out the tranny cooler was rotted out.

Anyone experience this and would appreciate knowing costs of repair and if Lexus parts or aftermarket parts were used?

Hello, I had a similar problem about three weeks ago. The solution of the technician was not to replace the transmission cooler rather replacing the rotted line with a new line. I hope this helps as the cost of the new cooler is north of $900 plus instal

Not hoses - they're ok.

The cooler itself disintegrated due to it's positioning on/under the front end where it 's exposed to road salt and grime.

From what I understand the install is strait forward but the $900 part cost you mention is steep.

Update

Lexus cost for tranny cooler: $749 CND + tax

Aftermarket: $189 CND + tax

I'll probably go aftermarket and keep an eye on it.

Oddly, I was just searching for a transmission cooler for my sister's 57 T-Bird and found complete cooler kits for 45-85 bucks. These are universal kits for any car. There comes a time to look at alternatives to Lexus parts for very common problems.
