Default Mud Guards for RX350

New to the forum and just purchased a used 08 RX-350. Wife drives it across some pretty nasty roads so I ordered a set of the Lexus mud guards from Sewell. Anyone installed a set of these? I'm hoping it will cut down on some of the crud kicking up on the doors. I'm sure since they are OEM it should be pretty straight forward but you never know.

Welcome to Club Lexus. Use the "search this forum" function whenever possible. You will find that most questions will have already been answered or extensively discussed. I did a search and found this post with photos. There are several other postings as well.

There are instructions with the mug guards. They are in Japanese. I have them and they help. and they look very OEM, complements the car.

I recently installed them on my 09 RX350. Easy to install and look great. I live on an unpaved road so dust and mud are always present. They don't stop a lot of the mud/dirt from splashing up but do stop some of the heavier mud and stone chips on the side of the vehicle.

Thanks for the replies. UPS delivered them late last week. I worked on buffing out the car and waxing this weekend so I didn't get them installed. Will probably do it tonight if the wife doesn't drive the RX to her class.

The instructions look pretty clear and straight forward. It did mention a right angle drill making installation easier. Did you find that you needed that? I'm thinking if necessary I'll just take off the tire for more working room.

Thanks!

Kurt

Kurt, welcome to the CL and congrats on the RX.

I managed just fine using a plain ole cordless drill.

Agree. Take off the tires and install will be smoother. Post pics when done. Enjoy.

I did this a month ago, install took about an hour, and that was with a lot of dicking around.

i didn't have to remove the tires or jack up the RX to be honest. Just a bit tedius to install the screws that go in from underneath.

In terms of whether it makes a difference, i would say say nothing significant. I still have splash back from mud, but yeah i guess not as bad.

Looks wise, stock OEM look. I am happy with them.

Got them installed. About 40 minutes to complete. I was able to do it without taking off the tires or jacking up the car, but I have a small Bosch driver with a drill chuck which was plenty to drill through plastic.

I think they look good. We'll just see how much they help. I guess any is better than nothing. Sorry, got in a hurry and forgot the before shots. Here are a few with them installed.

The mud guards are awesome. Love the set of tires, too. Just had a set of Dueler HT 422 Ecopia mounted. Like. it a lot as well. A bit cheaper than the Alenza. But will save me more gas.

Love the rims too. I have the Hybrid 18's for summer rims, but i think i shoulda chose the rim style you have.

Mandyfig, please be sure to report back on how those Ecopia work out for you. I still have my Alenzas on with about 10K left of tread. Will probably want to stick with Bridgestone as I have a lifetime alignment there -- unless there is a superior product to pick. The Goodyears sound good, but perhaps not good enough to make the change.

Believe those to be the standard 18" wheel package.
