Cool Transmission Lag

I bought a used 2008 RX350 with 29000 miles. It has the transmission lag at low speeds where it doesn't know what gear to go in for 4 or 5 seconds. I had this same problem in a 06 Avalon. The dealer flashed the computer per a service bulletin and I never had a problem after that. I have seen a service bulletin for RX 330's but not for a 08 RX350. Has anyone had this problem and did you get it fixed? The dealer says I have the latest software.

try a different tcu? grab one from a junkyard with same part # and run it and see if you have same issue, or try to find a local member to help you if you do then is prob a mechanical issue with the valve body or torque convertor, could be a sensor, just trouble shoot 1 area at a time and start w the cheapest thing first

This car is under warranty. Toyota has had this problem for 4 or 5 years. You would think it would have been fixed by 2008. Software fixed the 06 Avalon so why isn't there software to fix an 08. The dealer says I have the latest software

The software "learns" driver habits and adjusts in accordance. Talk to the dealer to see about clearing the system so that it has to relearn. Others here might be able to chime in to say whether it can be done by yourself and if so, how.

TSB on hesitation is covered by the Power Train warranty. You have plenty of time. 7 years of 80,000 miles (?) whichever comes first.

I had mine done just before my warranty expired. Cool beans.

Not that the hesitation improved, but I can confirm that your battery will be dead soon as a member described here. Turns out they update the program using your battery power...just my guess.

Half a year later after doing the tranny TSB, I had to replace the battery. Which was not a biggie since it was the origunal battery, ~6 years+. No complaints.

Mandyfig, there is a transmission hesitation TSB for your RX330 but I cannot find one for the RX350.

You might be right. What year is your 350, I will check it myself.

I have a 2007, but you might want to check the 2008 model also, to answer the OP (foxee15).

Just checked the TSB's for RX350 2007 and 2008 no Tranny issues. Lots of oil leaking issues, but no Trans.
