Default Tire Profile Change

I have 2005 RX330 with 55,000 miles and need new tires. My original equiped tires were low profile which had a disapointing firm ride. I am thinking of replacing with standard profile. Has anybody done this and were your more satisfied? Thanks.

What's the exact tire size, brand, model? Sometimes you don't have to change profile but just switch to different tire brand and model.

Are you referring to the +1 size tire and wheel upgrade to 235/55VR18? Which brand tire do you have? Makes a difference.

Those original Michelins are noted as having one of the quieter, softer, rides compared to the other tires of that size. What PSI is in your tires? Believe Lexus recommends 30 PSI in the fronts and 28 PSI for the rears, however, please check your manual and/or door jam for the proper values. If you are running higher than these values it will make for a stiffer ride.

I run 35 PSI in my Bridgestones, but I like the stiffer ride it provides and have no problems on the roads here in FL. When I go to PA I drop a few PSI due to the bad roads there.

The original base tire size was 225/65R17. Would require you to purchase new wheels in addition to new tires.

I just checked and Michelin has a 235/60/R18. I wonder if the change from a 55 to a 60 would make much difference of a softer ride.

I replaced the stock Michelins 235/55/18 with these Kumhos. Quieter and cheaper though I can't say that the ride is softer. Again, the PSI has an impact too and I prefer a higher PSI. Better on the tire, car, and pocket.
