Hello all- great board. Hard to describe this problem, but there are times when no matter how much you baby the gas pedal, the car kind of jolts/jumps when you try to accelerate at low speeds.
This would be an example... you go over a speed bump, the speed gets near 0, then you try to accelerate. When you first hit the pedal, the car kind of jumps. Almost like it's constantly selecting a gear too low or something. Doesn't seem to be anything from the transmission, just that there's no way to hit the pedal softly enough.
Anyone seen this before? We took it to the dealer who naturally said this is normal. But, they gave us a courtesy vehicle while other repairs were being made, and I can say with certainty it didn't do the same thing.

when ever mine act`s up with anything i think is abnormal i clear the ecm. then take it out and drive it like you normally would. question; do you share the rx with anyone? some time`s with these electronic trannies (adaptive learning),it will do this.
Thanks for the quick repy 114. It's actually my wife's car, which means I'm not overly familiar with it. We both notice it though. How do I go about clearing the ecm? After reading your post, I did a search for ecm and found that it can also be updated/calibrated by the dealer. Should I do this?
The car is actually at the dealer at the moment as we're trying to get any issues with it taken care of because the warranty expires in 12 days.

To properly clear the ecm,it should be done via a scanner. but you can also do it by pulling the neg.battery terminal. The problem with doing it that way is you loose your pre sets on radio, along with power window`s etc. You can also clear it by pulling the fuse for the computer. Although,it doesnt alway`s do it that way. As far as the tsib for the transmission,it`s only supposed to be for certain years,so definitely ask them to look into this for you. I hope this help`s. I had the shift feel tsib done on my 05,and it made a huge difference.
Yes. My wife took it in. And I do know they said they reset something computer-wise that was causing issues with the power windows and moonroof. So maybe they've already done something with the ecm.
Anyway, I'm going to be the one to pick it up. Wondering if I should call them beforehand though to ask about ecm calibrations or the tsib 114 mentioned.

I would, heck you have nothing to loose by asking about it.They may play stupid, and say they dont know anything about the shift feel tsb. But if you press hard enough, they will cave.
Thanks 114. I'll give them a call in the morning. By the way, I just want to make sure the TSIB is available on the 2007 rx350? I didn't see it listed on the aboutautomibile tsib list for 07...
well the shift problem you are mentioning has been debating here many of times and the outcome of how to get it fixed varies. I have an 08 and I have the shift problem to some degree. my brother has 2010 venza and has the same problem to some degree. so What I am trying to say is design issue that affects a small percentage of their cars.
I gave up on my own.
In your case it would not hurt to have the dealer check on it since you have warranty
Jumpy acceleration is driving behavior related. Aggressive drivers tend to cause this problem. First thing i would do is to disconnect the negative end of the battery. Let it reset after 5 min and reconnect the battery. Next, put in your key to ON switch and reprogram windows by rolling it all the way down and and up for all 4 of them and sunroof by holding the tilt button until the roof tilts, closes, slides back and then slides forward in 1 continuous motion then release.
Then take your car out and drive it like you would drive when you have company and small children in the car. The RX will learn your driving style after a few trips (2 most) and react to the way you drive thereafter. Hope it help!
