Default 07 RX350 Rain Sensing Wipers not working after windshield replacement

Had my windshield replaced a few weeks ago. My wife said the tech worked on the rain sensing wiper thing below the mirroe for a 1/2 hour. Sure enough, they no longer work properly. Has anyone else had this problem and what did it take to fix it?

The symptoms are that the wiper makes a single pass when turned onto auto, then a few seconds later they go at high speed, even when there is no rain.

Was this done at Lexus or a local windshield shop? In any event I would be back to the shop having a talk with the tech or manager about the situation.

Local shop, not the dealer. They are coming out to look at the car tomorrow, but since they are also the ones that screwed it up, I don't have a ton of confidence.
Had one replaced by the dealer before and there were no issues.

I had mine replaced by Safelite and everything works. HOWEVER, they purchased an OEM double-sided mounting tape for the sensor from Lexus. You can't reuse those, and they only cost around $25 from Lexus.

I wonder if they put the right windshield on your car? Hopefully it's just the sensor itself and not the wrong glass.

I've seen that happen before.

It is the sensor. Was the sensor installed and installed properly?

We had the same problem on my wifes rx. We bought it used and it had a new winshield so we thought it was a bonus, couple weeks after it rained so I tried the auto wipers and no go. We took it into the dealer for a warranty claim and found out the new windshield was missing some "gel" and was quoted $75 for parts and labor. This was all from the lexus dealer so I hope he wasn't bs'ing, I'm booked in for next week so I'll let you guys know

That sucks, Lexus wants to bother to charge you $75? Instead of going the distance and try to impress you.

That's the double-sided adhesive that hold the sensor on the glass. It can not be re-used and must be replaced every time they replace the glass.

Definitely falls under the windshield supplier's scope.

you got than one right. How much was it to replace the glass and did you have a HUD in the car?

Heads up display. It's basically a digital speedometer that gets displayed on your windshield below eye level so you can see your speed without looking down at your tach. HUD is not available on the rx that I know of and it was about a $1500 on the x5. It looked pretty cool from the passenger seat but hard to say how helpful it is, I'd buy it if it was an option tho lol
