Crush Washer - Metal or Non-metal blue stuff?
Hi folks. 08 RX 350. Sorry for the beginner question. I just purchased a Toyota oil filter 04152-YZZA1 from a Toyota dealership. They provided a crush washer, but it is some sort of non-metallic blue colored material. The parts guy said that all Toyota engines use that blue nonmetal crush washer.
About six months ago, I purchased the same exact oil filter from a Lexus dealership. The Lexus parts guy provided me with a shiny metal crush washer.
Are the two different crush washers interchangeable?
Why would Toyota recommend the blue one for its 08 Highlander, and yet Lexus recommend the shiny metal one for its 08 RX350. Aren't these two the same exact cars/engines?
Bottom line: Am I good to go with the blue crush washer in my 08 RX 350?
Thanks in advance.

either one is fine. In a pinch, you can even use the nylon washer. More important is to torque to spec [some do it by feel]. Buy the torque wrench, it will come in handy.
