Thinking about buying a Lexus RX330 from a little old lady

No, I don't play soccer!
I should have said check to see if the 5 year/60k service was done first. I might be in the minority here - do all recommended services at the Lexus dealer. I would have done it myself but my service advisor only let me do minor necessary service when the 450h was on order. She knew I was trading in my 330 and also how well I maintained it. It's like she was telling me to have the dealer pick up the cost which runs north of $1K.
Maybe you can get the service records to see what was done/not done and take it from there. Personally I'd take it to a dealer for inspection to see what they recommend. There are plenty of DIYers here to help so be sure to post what you find out.

17K seems rather low. I own an 04 with 111,000 miles and I expect to receive no less than 13 thousand as a trade in. However, mine is pretty loaded up. It does sound like a steal, but only buy it if you really need the car. Dont end up with a car you wont want a year down the road.

I have a similar situation. I'm getting a 2004 RX330 driven by a little old lady (a relative dec'd) to the grocery store and to the casino. Has less than 20K miles on it, all maintenance done, etc.
My only problem is that I know by the book, it will require a new timing belt, and I can't believe that with only 20K miles it really needs it. Yes, I know the "risk". Still, I can't get over the miles. I'm thinking a couple more years at least, maybe 3 or 4 even. We won't be driving it much either. 3-4 years maybe another 20K miles at the outside.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Dave

I'd definitely get the '04 checked out along with the 60k service to play it safe. Small investment in my book if you're serious. The more you know up front, the better. It's nice she's pointed out some of the issues she's aware of but buyer beware, long time customer or not.
I traded in my six plus year old '04 with barely 50K miles. New OE Michelin tires were put on a few months earlier. Dealer certified it and sold for somewhere around $25K
Car washes? Blasphemy! This picture was taken last December the day after a storm. Temp was around 36 degrees. My RX gets hand washed by me year round every week. Inside and out. Wusses

We're going to look at it today. The owners have ordered their new car from the dealer and will pick it up Monday. They want a decision before Monday, preferably Saturday (tomorrow). Price is $17,000.

I got it!
Favorites so far:
+ love the fold down rear seats for when I need to haul something. Will be like having a small truck. Loved my 89 Accord hatchback from way back when for this reason. It's even better on the Lexus.
+ love how the Lexus nameplate glows near the base of the doors / running boards at night.
+ HomeLink programming for my garage door was one of my first tasks when I got it home. Clicking number 1 and watching my garage door open up brought a smile to my face.

I will. Before I show it off I want to get it cleaned up real good. They were getting ready to trade it in. It wasn't dirty, but it also wasn't showroom floor shiny.
And, before I do that I want to address the leaking lift gate.
I started a thread about it but it hasn't seen much action. If anyone has any helpful tips about that please visit that thread. Thanks!

whoa whoa whoa Infotime! you got away without posting photos of this awesome find! It was a great deal for you, but also probably a good deal for your friend/customer who would have been low-balled by the dealer because it was a '04.
let's see some photos of the freshly-detailed addition! congrats, mate! quality find...those near-200k milers were going to bite it hard in the next year or two and this '04 RX deal wouldn't come around that often.
