Default gas tank cover

anybody know (rx 330 and up) if the cover that is over the gas tank has some kind on cusion around the edges. the picture below is the bottom of the car on the driver side. top part of the picture would be the bottom of the floor.

the reason Im asking is because after I fixed my roof rack rattle I was getting some kind of smaller rattle-but not all the time. You could hear it at highways speed only and if everything was off (a/c, radio, etc,.). Actually if you drove past 70 mph it really got annoying. I think with the roof rattle I had before-this was not loud enough for me to pick up.
I checked the edge that is closest to the bottom of the car floor and I saw some kind of sticky residue left behind on the covers edge by double sided tape or something. well I put some window foam trim. the one that comes in a roll.
well I'm happy to report that the rattle went away.

now the next project is the occassional pastic rattle from the back of the truck. I suspect the tray insert in the floor, but that is another story.

Can you take a pic of the exact location of the tape?

Thanks.

Yes, there was a tsb for a new cover part that had the foam due to rattles without it.

when this rattles-you can swear its coming from the roof or maybe somewere from the back. My wife pin pointed the sound by sitting in the back seats while I drove in the highway. a world of a difference now since I fixed the roof rack and the gas tank cover.

I finally figured out the bed spring type noise I was hearing once in a while when I went over rough road or speed bump. The rear seats -were they split to be folded. One side of the seats rubs against the others plastic trim. this causes the noise. I placed a small piece of paded tape-to smooth out the friction between them. its the tape that is used on furniture to prevent them from damaging the walls or vice versa. I will post pics soon.

Most likely the problem is not the roof rack, it is the plastic gas tank liner under the car and the sound radiates to the top. There is a simple quick fix on other posts. All it takes is some simple padding. A great easy fix is 3M tape. There is another post with a great picture showing where to put the tape. A $2 fix.

I'm thinking I have the same issue. I tried to look at the posted picture for the fix, but I can't seem to view them. Is there something i need to do to view the photo's?

Thanks.

If you don't want to buy the new protector you can use the existing fuel tank protector by removing the four nuts, cleaning the protector and then applying Heavy foam tape to the edges of the protector and reinstalling.

Thanks Rainbird. Is there a reason why I wasn't able to pull the photo's in the earlier posts?

I can't either. I think they were deleted from the host server.

Sorry for the additional questions, but can someone give me a better description of the 3M tape or the foam tape that is needed to fix the problem. I went by Autozone, but I couldn't locate what I would think would be needed to fix it. Also, any do I put the tape/foam around all the edges, or in a particular spot? BTW... I thought I would just by a new one from Lexus, but it's unbelievable what they want for that piece of metal...

Thanks again or the assistance...
