When Acura started making trannies here in Ohio...the problems started. They built a new tranny line in GA, near AL to supply the AL Honda line.

Question Lexus Reputation.

I am the first owner of a RX-330. At 80k miles or so, the RX-330 had weird transmission problems. So I took it to the dealer today and the service rep. said that the transmission is gone and it will cost $6,000 to fix it. So I wonder how can an entire transmission be completely gone so soon? This is very depressing because I purchased this car brand new.

However, I purchased a 2008 GS-350 brand new. Well... months after I purchased it, Lexus stated that a manufacture recall is for it because a valve job is needed to be done and the entire top of the engine must come off. My argument is that they knew this before I purchased the car. Its like my new car was purchased used. Lexus had to know about the recall before I bought it.

I gave Lexus 5-years, but my Lexus experiences has not been very good at all. I quest that I am qualified to make such comment, but my question to Club Lexus is simple. If your experiences were like mine, why would you buy another Lexus? I must say that this forum is the only good Lexus experience I ever had. The people are very knowledgeable and very helpful.

Maybe I just had bad luck, but I do know that all of my friends' BMWs stay in the shop all day and all night long. Therefore, I guest that we should not complaint.

That's a shame that both of your Lexus you bought brand new have had issues. Perhaps tomorrow you can try talking with a senior manager at Lexus Corporate and explain your situation. I would think that for goodwill they would be willing to compensate you for a substantial portion of the $6K transmission fix on the RX330. Good luck and please keep us posted.
