Default Navi Over-ride

Hey guys, what is the simplest and most effective way to manual over-ride the navi on 08' model? I know there are gadgets out there that require taking the navi unit out...which I am not too crazy about. Honda systems are much more convenient that you could destinations on the fly and it has a small joystick too

depends on what dvd version you have in your car. There used to be a series of touches on the screen that revealed a hidden menu where you could unlock it but that went away with dvd v 5. Your 08 probably has a newer dvd than that. I'm not aware of any way to do it anymore other than using one of those gadgets you mention. There is one for about $99 called the ultimate lockpick from coastal tech. The basic version does not require removing the navi head. You just plug in intermediary harness into the navi reader which is under the tool tray in the cargo area. plug and play. unhook the original plug, hook up the module to the dvd reader, connect the original plug to the other hookup on the lockpick. Unlock the navi is all it does. It does not unlock blue tooth or phone or other menu features. You have to buy a 2nd module required for that and you do have to pull the head unit.

Sorry if I am stealing your question here, but I too want to understand the Navi override function too. For the record I am using a 2005 RX 330 as my guinea pig.

I have successfully used the magic sequence of button pushing to get the override function. But for clarification, that only seems to affect the Navigation part of the system, not the phone part.

I was hoping that once bypassed, you could dial any phone number, and not be limited toa one touch number. And crazy as it seems, I was hoping that maybe when overriden you could get the video from the Entertainment system onto the Navi screen. I believe when parked it will work this way, but I haven't played with it enough to see.

So for the record, unless I am missing something, when you do the button push override, such that is available for my 2005 RX330, you only get the nav functions available, and not all functions.

I think that is right, unlocks the navigation system only. And you will lose that if you upgrade the map dvd (which upgrades the system firmware).
