Default 330 vs 350 vs 400h engine questions

Hello,
I'm in the process of getting my wife a used RX.
I was informed that the 330 requires a timing belt replacment at 90k miles. I called my local dealer and they said it was $1700 with the water pump.
I asked if the 350 needed it, he said I dont think so because it is the same engine as the 07 es350 and newer...is this true, no need for a timing belt replacement on the RX350?

And what about the 400h? Does this engine need a timing belt replacemnet at 90k miles. How long do the batteries last and what is a ballpark figure on replamnet cost?

If you guys where to chsose, what engine would you go for?

Thanks!

I'd get the 400h. And the batteries should last the life of the vehicle.

Thanks Lex. I heard the batteries use to cost $7,000 to replace, but they are down to $3,000.

Hi,
The 330 will require a timing belt.
The 350 has a metal timing chain and does not need to be replaced, but the WP will probably need to be replaced at some point.

The cost of getting these items changed is labour-based as a lot of the engine needs to be taken apart for a belt and WP.

I have the 330 which I love but I would like to have more power so the 350 would be the one I would want to purchase

I hope this helps,
Chris

Get the 350. Not because of the timing belt. Overall that's your best bet.
