If you like the exit position, you can set that as the memorized setting [that works on GS].

I was under the impression that you could turn it off (via a switch).

I've heard that dealers are charging $65 for 5 minutes work. Sound about right?

Yes Why?
But I think it's to eliminate one more thing from breaking.

I didnt have this option on my 01 RX,and I do a lot of short trips in the morning. But as phlfly already mentioned,it`s to keep one less thing from breaking/wearing out.

??

Might as well get a stripped down cheap car then. That way with no extras nothing will break.
Lots of us Lexus owners love the extras, that is why we spent the big bucks & bought a Lexus in the 1st place.

There's a lot of little things that the RX left out that are available on the sedans. When my parents first bought their LS400 (way back in 1991), there was a button that disabled the auto-tilt function. The seat belt shoulder adjust was also automatic. Why these things are not in a car 17 years newer, I have no idea.

The auto-tilt was still functioning like new when the car was totaled in 2001 (some moron rear ended my dad). It was actually still drivable, but the insurance company was offering nearly $11k on a 10 year old car bought new in 1991 for $40,000.
