I 'd take it to the dealer and have them decide. They have to right this situation until...

that web page mentioned something about "denso" pedals
"But according to our sources, the Denso unit will likely be recalled too. "
i hope that is not going to happen
didn't someone mention that RXs are using Denso's

From what I have reviewed and read, I think RX's are not affected at all.

Actually the issue has to do with the accelerator pedal becoming physically stuck. The solution is adding a spacer (we are talking milimeters here) so the pedal can not be fully depressed to the point it becomes jammed. The same thing with acceleration would happen on a throttle cable car.

So if there is any doubt, simply do not floor the pedal up to the point the kickdown is activated... I can't recall the last time I needed to use that anyways, just be calm and relaxed when driving, you can't feel the road in a Lexus anyways.

Are you sure. I heard that the problem was that the plastic body of the accelerator racks, and that makes the steel pivot bind in the brass bushing. I thought the solution was more like a bracket that supports the whole plastic body.

Apparently we are both wrong. The fix involves slipping a metal plate inside of the pedal housing, to defeat a "friction plate" that they deliberately put inside of the pedal to give it the right "feel".

All Lexus vehicles should have the reflash of no or very little throttle cutoff when brake is applied like the ES is having done.
I don't know why Lexus did away with this safely imput that German and other manufacturers have had in their vehicles.

The unexplained accident in San Diego involving a Lexus ES and recorded on a 911 tape has not been addressed by Toyota. Everyone driving a Toyota product should practice (and with anyone who drives their cars) how to put the transmission into neutral while driving and THEN turn the ignition to ACC (but do not remove key because the steering wheel will lock). It is something to think about before faced with the situation and the feelings of panic. The ES was driven by a police officer (expert driver) who was unable to overwhelm the car's power with the transmission engaged with the brake.
