so if the camry, which the RX is based on, is being recalled for defective gas pedals, what about the RX?

Lexus RX and Tacoma are not impacted at all. We are good.

But seriously somebody dropped the ball on this one!

I'm surprised the RX isn't on the list.
The problem vehicles are made in North America and many RX's are are made in Canada.

I believe the issue is more electronic than mechanical. Maybe it so happens that Tacoma and the RX have a different logic design. Just speculation.

Read this on Marketwatch today:

TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Toyota Motor Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!tm/quotes/nls/tm (TM 77.52, -2.25, -2.82%) /quotes/comstock/!7203 (JP:7203 3,560, -145.00, -3.91%) Wednesday expanded its recall to another one million vehicles to replace floor mats that risk trapping accelerator pedals and causing sudden acceleration, the Detroit Free Press reported on its Web site, citing a letter from Toyota to U.S. regulators. Toyota's recall now includes the 2008 though 2010 Highlander, along with the 2009 and 2010 model year Corolla, Venza, Matrix and Pontiac Vibe. Toyota already halted sales of the Highlander, Corolla and Matrix as part of the separate recall week to fix sticking accelerator pedals, the report said. Toyota recalled 4.3 million vehicles due to the floor mat problem in October.

Since Highlander is now part of the recall, and we know the RX shares the same parts as Highlander, does this mean RX is now affected?

Highlanders made in Japan aren't affected.RX's have Denso pedals and are said to be ok.

its only the 2010 highlander affected, which is unlike the second generation rx all together,.

toyota is being really safe with this, if ours were affected, they would have stated it by now

Lexus vehicles were specifically mentioned as NOT being part of the recall.

The gas pedal in my RX looks very different from the design used in the avalon, so I guess we are ok. The lower one in this picture is the one being recalled:
