RX Ballast
Well I will have to check for an AFS switch. You know I have the original MSRP price from 2004 and it was $45,268.00 You would think for that figure in 04 I should have all the options. I don't think I have the air ride and I won't know about the AFS until I get home and check for a switch. I can only imagine how more it would have cost with the air ride. Does anyone know how much of an option the AFS or the the Air Ride were? So let me get this straight, even though my headlights move up and down and then level off when i start the vehicle...it must have the AFS switch inorder to have AFS? So what does the up/down movement symbolize? Just HID lights?
Well its mr AFS again..I just got a call from my dealer McGrath Lexus who is tellin gme AFS was not an option in 04? What I am seeing with the lights is the auto leveling, but I still need to check for a switch. Any of you know if this is true, no AFS in 04?
when you turn your headlights on and they go left to right, up and down, it is simply the system calibrating / checking to make sure the motor works properly. so yes, if your headlights do that, it means they swivel when required.
second, i believe the the air-ride was part of the sport package which came with 18" wheels and perhaps a few other things. i am pretty sure it cost and additional $10,000 for this option.

AFS was part of the performance package along with air suspensions, sequential transmission, 18" wheels and graphite rims. It cost less than $5K but was not the most expensive package. Mark Levinson/nav was a few hundred more.
Mike, your dealer is wrong. I have AFS in my 04. Look for a little round button under the gas door release area.

Ok, I will look for button. Hopefully I will then know for sure if I have AFS. So from what you are telling me this car could have optioned out for another $5-6 grand over the $45,000+ it already msrp'd ? I know I have the 18" wheels, but I don't think air ride.
MSRP was $45K+ with nav and heated seats. I wound up paying around that much with the extended warranty and Lojack early warning.

Well, after looking for the AFS button and not finding one, I assume after all these years I do not have AFS. I always thoroughly enjoyed the HID w/auto leveling very much and just assumed the auto leveling and movement was AFS. Hopefully the ballast I just ordered off Ebay for $95.00 will correct my no left head light problem.
I actually thought that at $45,200.00 my 04 RX should have been pretty loaded up. It seems after looking at the factory build sheet, I truely am missing AFS and the Air Ride. Are there any other options that I may be missing? I have Nav, Levinson, sensing wipers, headlamp washers, rear backup cam, auto rear door, lighted door sills, roof rack, 18" wheels, HID, heated seats, some HD alternator, radiator, etc. I guess when I get the Gen 3( is that the newest?) I'll have to check more closely at the options and what is most important. I for some reason thought the main package was the premium package or something like that and then a package above?
Mike, there was a premium and premium plus package. And I can't forget that nice multipanel moonroof package. I drove one at a Lexus event. They need to bring that back. Performance and Mark Levinson/nav were at the higher end with yours being the most expensive. So you do have a loaded RX.
Yeah, I missed the laser cruise control too. I am getting it in my 450h along with HUD
lexus114, same situation here in NJ. Right lane is the fast lane. Left lane is for the day dreamers. Damn dyslexic drivers.

HUD is heads-up display. I didn't know what it was either
And I had to get the LEDs with AFS and intelligent headlamps. I wonder how they are going to be compared to the HIDs. I have yet to see them in person. I guess I'll find out in a few weeks.

now that you mention little round button....I actually found a little round button, located kinda between your knees. It actually looks like there are areas for three switches down there and this particular switch is right in the middle slot, small round button. It does NOT say the initials AFS or anything. Do you think that may be my AFS button? If I press it, should something show up on the dash saying AFS? Thanks,
Mike
