When you say it doesn't work at all, do you mean it won't even open manually?

Denso Part # 163800-0091 or Aisin 427107- 10030
best bet would be used with a limited warranty to save some $$$...

Smile Power lift gate not working

Most of the time I can open it manually. It started about a year ago first falling on my head. Then I could push it open and it usually would stay. Now sometimes it just totally freezes and I can't open it at all. If I wait a few hours, it may open or then again may not. The inside button doesn't open it either.

I found a mechanic who got a used one and will install it for about $400. Lexus wanted about $1300 for a new one. Do you think that is too much? He is reputable and does good work, but ......I'm not sure what to do.

Have a great day!!

Thanks. Do you think it is difficult to install?

Here is a link to give an idea to what is involved for getting to the motor......

If I feel a little unsure with a repair, I will snap photos of the disassembly to make sure nothing is forgotten & to know where everything goes for the assembly when replacing the part.

Even if the motor was completely removed, the hatch shouldn't fall on your head. Sounds like the problem started with bad struts.
